In order to rest our eyes and afford to play more, it would be goood to have a switch to turn the interface into a dark mode.
This would only change the layout on screen, using darker colors, but not the mechanisms of the website itself.
This preference could be saved by default for future connection (but of course keeping the possibility to switch back to classic theme).• Jaký prohlížeč používáte?

I would be SO THANKFUL if you guys made dark mode for us.
So many people have insomnia and stay up too late, and looking at a bright screen is a huge factor in that. Also I get migraine headaches and sometimes looking at BGA triggers it. I am currently a premium member. I don't know how long I will stay one but I do know that if dark mode were available in premium, it would persuade me to upgrade just for that. Thanks BGA team xxx

Making it premium-only just seems scummy. Having premium-only games makes sense, and having voice and video chat be premium-only is understandable, but dark mode shouldn't be premium only.

I did it using a custom css, but a real dark mode would be great !
The problem is potentially all games should be adjust their proper style to be compatible with this mode.
Maybe this could be a per game option: some games provide a dark mode, some does not.
Mean while there is also the Dark-reader extension, for Chrome and Firefox, turning all the web in dark mode ;)

the CSS script dark mode works partially, but prevents viewing some areas like the bug reports where text appears black on grey in the header table and pages crash out with a no-access error for individual bug cases. To see this load the CSS then refresh the bga site, general pages appear in dark mode, but you will not be able to access this bug report. The error message states this is due to the custom CSS being used.

Dark mode does not display the game "Not Alone" correctly - the hunting and survival cards display as white text on white background - i.e. unreadable for several of the cards.

Break the code also has white text on white background using the CSS darkmode script. The main tableau does not change colour to grey/black like it needs to.

Space base also has white text on white card info background using dark mode CSS (when you hover on a card to see its detailed description).
If BGA view the darkmode CSS as sufficient that's now 3 games where it doesn't work properly.

The question was asked by someone on the recent reddit live Q&A with the BGA main man. IIRC he brushed it off and said they were focussing on UX issues. How this is not part of UX I'm not sure but it doesn't sound like it's coming any time soon. Shame really, such a popular requested feature and not being responded to. (please don't shoot the messenger, just telling you what I saw)

I tried custom CSS and I was not allowed to access this section of the website while it was in use. Not ideal. Accessibility would be simply providing a dark mode in the options already available.

For me the idea of a darkmode would be awesome. My whole phone is turned into darkmode bc my eyes are dying bc of the light. And like a few already said, its just that you need give it a dark theme but could switch to back the light one.

At the moment Chrome's dark mode seems to work well for everything apart from the game log (which is still black on black). Sometimes game counters disappear in DM too, think I noticed this in Stone Age.

This is very much needed! As a person, who uses dark mode in everything I hate opening BGA and having it all very light. The dark mode is not only good for the eyes to rest from light, but it also helps a lot of players feel better on the website and might help them play more games, and spend more time on BGA.

My phone has a native dark mode but there is some issues with text for many games . I unable to play. Text on King of Tokyo card are unreadable, the word on just one etc. Please do something

Dark Mode is a must.
Many of us play before sleeping time, so it doesn't let us relax. Lowering the screen's light makes it more difficult to play, than having dark mode and lowering the light only a bit.
PrCalys implementation is very good, however there are problems: BGA blocks entrance to certain areas, for example this suggestions' forum.

Awesome update with darkmode! One favour: those hourglass symbols indicating waiting on that user ? can we lighten them up on the darkmode ;) (they're harder to see in darkmode now :P ) (Sorry, small nitpick I know .. ) .. but it's awesome! thanks!

Le mode sombre cause des problems d'affichage sur certains jeux. Textes noirs non convertis et des elements de jeu (cartes) sont visibles sur mode clair, mais non viisble dans le mode sombre :/

I have just upgraded to a new phone and now my BGA is stuck in dark mode.
My old phone was set to dark mode, but BGA was normal. Now, with my new phone, if the phone is in dark mode, so is BGA. I can't turn it off. Half of the games are unplayable as the cards are so dark they're barely readable.
I don't want to have the rest of my phone in non-dark mode just so I can play BGA. Surely, it can be be turned off. Any suggestions please?

@Gemsquem i messaged you instructions to remove the dark mode:
if you go to your user profile icon in top right, then click the right most "preferences" icon in the line of 4 that appears. In the preferences area go to "advanced" and clear the CSS script. BGA will now default to its correct colours.
I've been working on expanding the github by bastian09 but I see he's updated it since I started so I will have a look and see how it compares to my fork before I post mine.
@Tof63 the beauty of bastian's css approach is it will work whichever browser someone uses.

I know : I tried.
The google chrome extension adds specific css code for each game that requires it, to avoid having dark images or text displayed on a black background.
Css fixes have been added for 500 games so far. That's far too much CSS code to put in a single file.
... and the extension is compatible with Edge too.
So only mobile devices and Firefox are not compatible.

I've also got a customisable dark theme for BGA as a Stylus userstyle here: userstyles.world/style/6669, I believe it's one of the most developed of them, so I just share it in case anyone happens to need this one apart from me.
You can see some screenshots on the description of the GitHub repository: github.com/OregSamSas/boardgamearena-darkmode
Remember that this is still in development (and this is one of the reasons why I think it's easier to use it through Stylus).

Just a little reminder: you can already have a dark mode with a browser extension.
It works with Chromium based browsers (Google Chrome, Edge, Brave ....), Firefox and Kiwi Browser for Android devices.

Native Dark mode would be great. I use an extension for chrome - but it breaks some games forcing me to swap back to the ultra bright native colors of this site.

I'm a web developer, and i have a darkmode started, its looking quite good.
The issue is, the current CSS is a little bit of a mess, and i wish the CSS had variables we could easily just adjust the colors with.

Prosím přidej sem cokoli, co by mohlo být relevantní pro reprodukci této chyby nebo pochopení tvého návrhu:
- ID dalšího stolu / ID tahu
- Byla chyba odstraněna stisknutím F5?
- Objevila se tato chyba častěji? Pokaždé? Náhodně?
- Pokud máš snímek obrazvky zobrazující tuto chybu (doporučujeme!), můžeš použít Imgur.com pro nahrání obrázku a pak odkaz na tento obrázek na Imguru zkopírovat a vložit sem.
