Color preferences are already enabled for this game. The available colors are Black, White, Yellow, and Blue. You can see in the very first line of the replay linked to this suggestion that these colors were assigned to match all players' preferences as closely as possible.
Color preferences cannot be used to add colors that don't already exist in the game.

I see this must be a bga implementation thing with it not being very smart.
Available: Black White Yellow Blue
Preferences:
Nickelz: Yellow, Orange, Khaki green, Green
Phillinator: Black, Grey, Blue, Green
Faithey: Red, Pink, Purple, Green
I think a human would give Nickelz Yellow, Phillinator Black, and Faithey either White or Blue since her color is not available. Instead it was Nickelz White, Phillinator Black, Faithey Yellow with two people not getting a preferred color instead of one. Perhaps BGA decides one person at a time and did Faithey first?

No worries, and thanks for following up! I'm not sure exactly how it works either, but I agree it could have found a better solution. I think you're right about what it did here.
