The player who used more time advanced to the next round.
I have read that in a tournament game, a tie goes to the player who took less time.
I have also read that it's random.
Is the tournament tied-game rule documented? Where, and what is it?

I too think, that it should be clear who makes it to the next round if there is tie. It could be based on who took less time or who has higher ELO for example.

But it can be based on the age subscription in BGA, the older win.

Honestly, I think that it wouldn't be fair if age of BGA subscription was crucial. It is something you can't change now.
In my opinion, it would be best if the player who used less time moved on to the next round. Then players could always try to play a little bit faster. It could also reduce the problem of time wasting.

Or another idea - tournament's creator could have a possibility to set it in tournament's options who will win in this situation.
